User’s Manual

A community event website for the County of Vulcan, AB, CANADA.

This calendar is produced collaboratively by Vulcan and District Recreation Board and Vulcan Business Development Society.

challenge

Vulcan County consists of the town of Vulcan, 5 villages and several hamlets, and each community has unique local recreations. Vulcan Business Development Society (VBDS) saw this a bit challenging to keep tracking all events happening in Vulcan County and categorize them for visitors to find out.

VBDS asked me to create a community event website that would become a hub for all events in the county with easily managable structure and agricultural mood.

process

For a community event website with a fun and playful atomosphere, I picked fresh spring field green color as a dominant color to convey the community’s vibrant identity in agriculture.

Having a simple graphic and 1 column structure allow to have a bigger content area which is easier to read posts.

result

Vulcan Business Development Society liked the fresh design with lively atomosphere as well as its functionality of category/keyword searches and the event calendar.
