How we perceive the world has been changed since technology extended our senses. Our voice and appearance are transferred through the Internet. Therefore it is clear that we are deeply immersed under the digital sea. Mobile devices such as cell phones can be the most powerful communication tool because of its high accessibility. While it extends our network and connects us, the cell phone isolates us and makes the communication full of anxiety. Anxiety that makes us unable to physically see each other, makes us exist anywhere and unstable. The individual is forced to become liquid, to melt and flow in the digital communication.
I love technology.
I check email at least 3 times a day.
I can spend all day netsurfing.
I can get connected with friends through social networks.
I am addicted to playing computer games.
I have no life if there is no electricity.
But there is one device I cannot get along with.
The telephone.
I hate the telephone.
It prevents me from seeing the face.
There is to be or not to be.
My sense gets too extended to feel that it is mine.
My voice gets drained into the microphone.
I feel as if I were half sunk under the water when the only flesh voice I can hear is mine.
I am immersed, but barely floating.
Will I be drained and gone if I stop talking?
